Lowell Portfolio

Hi All
I had a credit card from egg in 2005 and when my now ex partner moved in with her 2 kids i could not live on what i was earning and needed a little help with things so she asked my to get a card for her to help out till she went back to work as she could not get credit at the time.( me daft) and in 2008 we split up and i could not afford to pay this card back so i went to citizens advice and they made me a plan and contacted egg to see if they would except the offer but they said no. so me been me i was not going to pay 4000 for a dept i never used as it was for her and her kids car and so on. ( yes again very daft) so i just stoped paying as they would not help me. and i have moved house about two times since then and now they found me 2011/12 I am getting letter first from Lowell Portfolio and now Red dept collection. i have not phoned them or sent any letters as of yet as i would like some advice as i have two kids of my own now and still cant aford to pay. the letter i have just had off REd says there going to pass this onto Hamptons Legal ?
Thanks for your Help
Andy

Hamptons legal are just yet another trading name of Loweell and red debt collection. Can you remember when you last made a payment on the card because if it was more than 6 years ago then the debt is now statute barred and although they can ask you to pay they cannot enfore this through the courts etc.

There is a statute barred letter on here that you can use. Put everything in writing to them and do not acknowledge the debt.

Problem in 2008 he went to the CAB and they offered for him to make payment via a plan, although egg turned it down.
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.
