Loan advice please
Hi
Soon to made redundant (not a biggie, since I was planning on early retirement anyway and this way I get a useful lump sum) BUT:
We want to move down country:
We have about 210k in savings, plus we own outright a house worth 125k. Ideally we'd like to buy the new house before selling the old for the sake of convenience (and the negotiating advantage of being a cash buyer with no chain) but it would be nice to release about 30k of equity to top up the funds available for the new place. I'm ringfencing the redundancy money to cover living expenses, so I don't really want to touch that. The problem is that I doubt we could raise a mortgage or loan with a redundancy impending. Bridging finance is a possibility, but hellish expensive. Any suggestions?
Thanks

sell house
move furnishing into storage
rent small flat near where you want to move to
spend relaxing time looking for new property
ticks all the boxes0 -
Agree with Clapton. Actually, when I was selling I put loads of my stuff into storage before the viewings started. Made the place look much more roomy, less "personal" and made packing up to move a LOT less stressful. Just got a local "man with a van" to collect all the stuff from storage and bring it to my new place when I was ready for it.DMP Mutual Support Thread member 244

Not a bad idea at that. How much does storage cost for the contents of a small 3 bed house?
Thanks0 -
We got a deal ,I think it was by 8 weeks get 8 free, but I think after that we paid about 240 a month. It was quite small though. We got the contents of a two bed house in but we didnt have loads of junk. Get some online quotes and see.0

Crumbs - as much as that? Say 450 a month rent plus 240 storage - I suspect I could raise finance for less outlay!!
Thanks for the input though - everything helps.0
