What is your charity-shop weakness?

At the moment, I am a bit of a sucker for children's clothes as they are usually very cheap and barely worn. I picked up a lovely designer sundress for 50p today. I have also recently picked up children's videos for 10p each - whilst they don't have much value for resale, we still have our video player and the kids won't mind them not being dvds!
When we get a chance, we pop over to Tenterden who have good charity shops.
Locally I have a friend who works in a big name charity shop, they send all the primark, new look and matalan stuff to the rag merchants - apparently, they are not worth reselling! I was quite shocked to hear this.
We have some excellent charity furniture warehouses near us. I recently picked up a lovely kidney shaped dressing table for £20 which I have repainted and recurtained for my little girl. Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!

Clothes mainly. Recently I went to high street in a decent area with a few charity shops and got new worktrousers, new with £18 price tag from Next still attached t shirt, going out posh top, sandals for summer, hoody for daughter and a book for the grand sum of £10! :j
I wouldnt have any clothes if it wasnt for charity shops. I also look at the bric a brac and the smellies. Ive had really nice unwanted gift sets from Body Shop, Boots etc for next to nothing.I have every possession I want. I have a lot of friends who have a lot more possessions. But in some cases I feel the possessions possess them, rather than the other way round0 -
I got some fab retro brown leather boots boots yesterday think they are from the eighties. love them xxx got them from Debra in Poynton Cheshire its a fab shop.xx0

Silly question but I have never been in a charity shop but I am now intrigued! Are there cheapish clothes for men (im in my mid 20's) - also would there be shirts/trousers I can wear to work? I live near dartford so are there "posher" areas where I could get better quality items?
It seems some of you get some brilliant bargains!0 -
We sell mens work shirts and suits, shirts in our shop are generally £2.99 but we are in Bristol so prices may be different where you are. Definitely worth having a look.“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0

I think you are more likely to find 'posher' men's clothes in charity shops, so yes suitable for work. Think men tend to wear their casual stuff out to rags rather than give it away like women do, and of course men loose/gain weight too! DEFINITELY the more upmarket the area the better the pickings. The trick is to keep looking regularly, once a week or similar. Stuff comes in to them in batches, so one day you will go in and a whole load of stuff the same size (your size :T) will have come in.

I don't have a "type" specifically I just have a look round. I've got some good cookbooks and toys (I got a toy story toy which I later saw in hamleys for £35 for £3.50 ). I recently got a set of winnie the pooh boxes in a boxset for £1.25, researched them at home and they were dated 1977!0

My weakness is.... troll dolls .... they have no use, they just sit their with their crazy hair smiling at me and I HAVE to have them! Thankfully it only comes to a pound or two at most when I spot one lurking in the childrens toys sections. My cats will 'kill' them given half a chance (they pull their hair out in one big lump!). I don't know why I can't resist them lol~"I don't cook so much since we moved out of reality...."~0

It depends how I feel, we have a few £1 CS and I tend to get quite a few clothing items but also keep a lookout for household bits and bobs- picked up a Denby tea plate for 20p today0

I simply adore charity shops, all of my clothes/apparel are purchased from them. Everything apart from underwear & swimwear is fair game - unless brand new with labels attached.
I often spend a day in more affluent areas than my own scouring the rails. Given my current reduced circumstances I often purchase and ebay my finds or send them to my sister to sell in the country that she is currently living in.
My youngest son customises old violins and he is just getting the cs bug.
I hope to revamp my bedroom later this year so am keeping an eye out for furniture to makeover.
I have had loads of rich pickings in the smellies department - unwanted yuletide presents. Some of them I would not normally use, but great to chuck in my swimming wash bag as they were mostly all travel size.
I have set an austere clothing budget for this year (at least until finances improve) so have to stay away from all shops at the moment, but sure do miss the charity shops.
Have a great day all
