Pensions from old companies.

Now the dreaded day is closing I want to find the address (not on Google) of a couple of companies I have worked for in the past. What I want to find out is if I am entitled to any pensions from them. I'm talking about 1960/70's when as a young person we never comtemplated pensions so do not know if I am entitled to any. The companies I am looking to find a current address are Ekco heating, later Ekco Hawkins and part of the Pye /Philips group. The other is U.K. Optical. Is there a database of names which I can search?
If anyone could help me tracing the current whereabouts I would be very grateful.

  • Cant directly help with the addresses but good luck ......

I recently had a 'windfall' - I received a letter from the Department of Work and Pensions enclosing a letter from a former employer of mine saying they thought I might have a pension entitlement from them. (they had used the DWP to trace me ...)I thought it would probably be in the low £'s per month.

Long and the short of it is that I ended up with a tax free lump sum in the (small...) tens of thousands and a reasonable monthly small monthly income as well !!

So I'm wondering whether you might be able to do the same sort of thing in reverse using the DWP?
  • Thanks both, that's just what I am looking for. Did not consider that DWP might actually be of some help. I've bookmarked the link for when I get home.
    Cheers once again.
