Buying used clothes from ebay?

The advice others have given is great - names you know that fit, checking feedback and descriptions etc. Do ask questions if you're not sure about condition (ie if a jumper, whether there is much bobbling). I've had some bargains and I've also had a few bad experiences with people falsely describing items. I bought a 'jumper' which was described as excellent only it turned out to be a cotton top that was well worn and past it.
It's worth remembering if you pay by PayPal that you're protected. If an item isn't as it was described, contact the seller explaining this and politely ask for a refund, even if they say no returns in their listing. If they won't help, go to the resolution centre and open an 'item not as described' case. The idea is that you're asking to return the item for a refund on the basis it is not as they described it to be. If the seller doesn't respond, you can escalate it to a claim and then ebay will make the seller refund you the cost and orignal postage charge. It's worth knowing so that you aren't out of pocket. If you do return an item though send it recorded so you have trackable proof.
Most sellers are decent and selling stuff they don't want any longer but there are a few who are trying to sell rubbish. One person sold me a La Senza bra with air boost pads, only the the pads were deflated. When I contacted her she said that it was an air boost braand I never asked if the pads were inflated!!??!! I did get a refund for it.
I sell a lot of things I don't need anymore on ebay, it's worth doing. And you fancy trying selling, look out for when they have they free listing weekends and you can list items for free.
Good luck with your ebaying :-)0 -
My experience of buying clothes on ebay has been generally good, but I would always say that you should knock the seller's rating of the clothes (i.e. new, good, used etc) down by a factor of one and then consider if you're still happy to be paying x price. I've generally found that a lot of sellers are a bit over-ambitious when describing quality so I always assume that the item's going to be a bit worse than described.0

I've bought quite a few bits of clothing from Ebay in the past. I'm another one who says that it's best to stick with the brands you know. I bought a pair of jeans from Ebay from a brand that I don't usually buy from. The seller stated that they were a big 8. I got them and they were more like a small 6. There was no way I could do them up. I'm normally an 8 in most shops (apart from Lipsy I think. They're sizes are tiny. I'm more like a 12 in there) so I'm not sure if the brand just had extremely small sizing or whether she got the size wrong.
Apart from that I've had good experiences with buying clothes on Ebay. I like to save images from clothing websites and then try and find the clothes on Ebay a couple of months later for a fraction of the price. I'm not really into trends and I'm not one of those people who must wear trends in the season they're "in". I wear what clothes I like all year around, regardless of when they go out of "fashion" so for me it's a good way to save money and get clothes I like.
