Hi,
Does anyone how long Zirtek (Cetirizine) takes to be absorbed and providing the peak antihistamine properties?
It says 1 tablet for all day relief but I was wondering if say I take it 30 minutes before, is this long enough? Alternatively if I take it 10 hours before would the antihistimine properties start to wear off?
Thanks!

i cannot remember how long it takes to kick in but when i was on it before it stopped working for me i was told that it can take a couple of days before you get the full effect and as long as you take it every day it would keep a steady level of the drug in your system. HTH.0

I don't know anything about biochemistry, but anecdotally speaking, I find it takes about 20 to 30 mins for the effects to kick in. When I've had bad hayfever/allergies, I've found that if I take one first thing in the morning, they will have started to wear off by the time I go to bed (~16hrs later). Not sure if that helps at all...
Don't forget to buy "unbranded" cetirizine -- it's a lot cheaper than Zirtek! :money:0 -

If you take it the day bfore it will have worn of by the time you get there! I take them and find that within 15 mins I'm getting relief, so if youre visiting, depending on long it takes you to get there take one as youre leaving your house and you should fine"If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all" - quote from Bambi's mum0
