New Tax Codes, got sent 2?

Hi all,
Yesterday my partner got two letters from HM Revenue and Customs.
They are PAYE Coding Notices.
But one of them gives him one tax code and states that its for the Job Centre to check his tax position when he comes off job seekers allowance (which he came off in Oct 2010!!) and states that then are sending it to his old company where he was made redundant in Nov 2009!
Then the other letter states a different tax code to pass on to his employers where he currently works and has done for over a year now.
Is this right? Or does it imply that they think he has two jobs? (which he hasnt) as the wording on this letter states that they know he has another job (he doesnt!) or pension (he did but stopped paying into it when he got made redundant and hasnt started again yet)
We don't really understand it !
He tried ringing them yesterday but gave up after being on hold for nearly 30mins lol.
Any advice welcome from anyone else who have recieved these letters.

Can you advise what the tax code numbers are and check which tax year each refers to?0

I had the same, took an hour to get through last night. Apparently its a known system error affecting 4% . They corrected it right away, stating confirmation will be here in 2 weeks.0

Ok thank you

We will try and ring them on Monday to sort it out. They are tax codes for 2012-2013 so need to make sure they give him the right one!0
