Hi, I'm looking for a kindle for mum for her birthday, tried tesco ( so I can use the £10 discount code!) but they're out of stock
Anyone know of anywhere else I could get one that's around £80? Dad and I are sharing the cost but our budget is £40 each.

A friend of mine was telling me that W H Smiths do a version which are currently on special offer. I think their called Kobo and theres a choice of 2 or 3 types / options depending on your needs / wants. HTH

I searched kobo and this kindle thread came up first, but my comment could be entered in either.
Prior to Christmas, I was all for buying a kindle from amazon for my wife and trawled the net for access to ebooks and have quite a long list of companies, but Christmas came and went with no kindle.
Kobo has featured on Ideal World this weekend and I've been tempted, due to the low cost. However, it seems they come with 100 free books on them, then when you consider increasing your stock, two things have held me back.
1), it seems you need extra memory and
2), the free kobo books, look as they are all "classics".
My wife would not wish to read them as she tends to read "love/romance".
So unless I've misunderstood, kindle would be the best option, or would it?This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

my OH bought me a Kindle for Christmas and I wouldn't be without it now. There are thousands of free books around, I've found so many good indie authors and have spent very little. Plenty of these have been 'chick lit', and the fact you can store around 1500 books make it even better :-)0 -
