tax relief on buy back added years

Can anyone offer advice? I am a recently ,early retired, teacher who elected to buy added years (enhanced pension) in a lump sum. I have also been paying for added years through salary for some years, which was deducted monthly before tax. Can anyone advise If I am entitled to Tax
relief on the lump sum paid ? HMRC do not seem to be too sure on this.

If the scheme is set up so that contributions are normally taken off pay before tax is calculated, and these extra contributions were paid another way (eg: by cheque) then - yes - you will be able to claim the tax back on the contribution.We need the earth for food, water, and shelter.
