Help Reg Holiday hrs/Rota

Hi
I am hoping somebody can advise me as i am a bit confused by the way my employer works the rota & holiday, i will try and explain the best i can but iam confused .

Rota works on a 5 week rota, when i first took the position i was under the impression it was a 30hr per week post and was not told at the interview that i could be working ( say ) 40 odd hrs one week and 27 the next etc all ( supposed to be )adding up to 150 at the end off the 5 wk rota. ( they usually put more than that on it and i know some employees dont say anything about it but i do/did )

However i was a bit annoyed at this as i really am only fit to work 30 per wk but came to accept it.

Here is my problem now in trying to understand this 5 wk rota.
I took some A/L on the 23 January for 1 week and my 3 days off were included in this but only because i had brought it to there attention before so that makes one week at 7.4 hrs per day ( a workmate had to call HR to find this out as the employer were just putting in how many hrs they liked for holidays.
So week one 23 jan was 4 days A/L and three days off
week two 30 jan they have given me 47 hrs
week three 6 feb they have given me 32 hrs
week four 13 feb they have given me 27 hrs
week five 20th feb they have given me 46hrs
My Q is this... if my holiday was 30 hrs in week one does that make my 5 week rota add up to 182 hrs ? they work in hours rather than days and i find it confusing.
The company have never got my pay correct since i started 7 months ago, i always have to call them to tell them every month, they forget to put overtime in wages & the communication between manager and staff is non existent, they change your shifts regularly and you never know if you are coming or going.

I am not happy with a lot off there practices but my main concern is the above, iam looking at it this way if iam to work 152 hrs in 4 weeks ( presuming my holiday was 30hrs ) then surely that cannot be correct as it would add up to 182 hrs or am i missing something ?

Any input would be appreciated
Many thanks

work out your hours you do in a month and multiply by 12.07%, this will give you the amount of holiday earned in that period in hours.

    Hi
Thanks....I dont think i am explaining this properly
Basically i work 150 hrs per rota ( rota is 5 weeks ) at the beginning off the rota 23rd Jan i was on a weeks A/L which then leaves 4 wks on the rota and my work has me doing 152 hrs in the remaining 4 weeks

I am thinking i should only be doing 120 hrs in the 4 weeks as the first week was a holiday.
Its like they are penalizing me for taking my holiday and cramming as much hrs as they can into the remaining 4 weeks.

Does anybody have any ideas on this ?

    Thanks

Run it past me again - when are you getting your holiday if they are simply reassigning your monthly hours into the remaining weeks
The employer needs taken to task as they may very well be applying this logic to everyone, has no-one raised concern?

Re your daily working hours, do you mean 7h 40 m or 7h 24m (.40 of an hour is 24 minutes).

    Hi Ohreally

Yes they are reassigning my monthly hours into the remaining weeks, the company had a small number off employees before myself and another 6 started in September and i have been going on about this problem since i started, i knew it was not correct and was telling the other employees this was not right & they said they knew something wasn't right.
The company work in hrs & some weeks you could do 14 hrs and other weeks 47 but should add up to 150hrs at the end off the 5 wk rota & i started wondering what they were going to do when i took my A/L how many hrs would they use for my A/L that week lol its all a bit bazaar.
I called the manager on Friday to tell her there were to many hrs on my rota & that if i was on A/L for the first wk then there should be only 120 to work ! she said she will look into it but i think they know what they have been doing to people all along, i seem to be the only one who is making a big deal about it.
Is it not correct that if they are doing this then in reality you are not getting holidays ?
I have got another job but will be still working my notice in this one as i cannot stand it much longer as there are so many issues.
HR told a work mate that it is 7.4 hrs per day for holidays but its not been working out for some ppl like that, i have known some employees take a weeks holiday and the company saying they have used 22hrs of there holiday entitlement, it seems that is convienant for them to make your holiday week a short one if you see what i mean
    Thank you

    Indeed.

Perhaps your colleagues should consider organising trade union membership. http://www.usdaw.org.uk/join/signup.aspx

If this is a persisting issue, did it not occur to her to make contact with her TU and raise concern/ ask advice?

I asked her this and she approached the manager, manager kind off baffled her with the excuse that the rota works in hours & basically fobbed her off but i have been like a dog with a bone.

When i called the manager on friday to tell her there were too many hrs on my rota she said she will take a look at it.
However the management and the team leaders are in the habbit off not getting back to you if it isnt in there interest hence the reason i started looking for another job.

You need good records of hours worked and hours paid.

You might even be able to show they are paying for holidays and not really letting you take them if there is no record of overtime.
