I doubt very much he claimed "all his tax back".....unless his income was under his tax free allowance.0

im not sure if he claimd all it back but was claiming a fair amount every time0

It depends how much you earn over a year as to whether you can claim tax back, do you have any knowledge of the tax system.
Are you employed or self employed.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
i am employed and earn approx £18,000 - £20,000 a year and thats before tax0

Wouldn't we all like to get our tax back? But no, we can't.0

It depends if you're on the right taxcode or not if you're on BR tax code and it's your only job then you will have overpaid tax and paid 20% tax on all your wages. The most common tax code is 745L I think. Most times people overpay on tax is when their wages vary from month to month or change jobs often.
It's usually worth a look to see if you've overpaid tax.0 -
You can only claim overpaid tax (if you were on BR tax code), not all the tax you have paid - if you have worked the whole financial year.
If you have worked whole year and your tax code was correct, ther is nothing to claim back.Last year my brother work on the rails as a trackman, he claimed all his tax back with his accountant

Your brother is clearly self employed, he could have claimed all sort of expenses to get out of paying tax/claim it back.
You are on a salary, that is completely different.0 -
