Hello
After nearly 4 months recovery, its about time I sorted out the mess that is my life. I am hoping that writing it all down will mean I am more likely to address the issues than think "hmmm, I'll do that in a bit...", which is what I have said, umm, too many times to count
OK, so long story short, I currently have £29832.65 debt to my name, 99% of which is courtesy of the ex and his "it will be alright I will pay it back I promise, I just need......" Yeah, well I learned that lesson the hard way.
Anyway, I made the decision to walk away and swallow the debt after it became obvious that the figure was not going to stop rising and he was never going to stop being a selfish a$$ amongst other things. So 7 years, 2 kids and £30k later, here I am.
I know most people are against using the statute of limitations on here out of principal, but I am hoping that it is going to work in my favour and nearly half this figure by the end of the year, although sadly the rest will have to be worked on the hard way, pound by pound, but I will get there eventually.
I am a single mother on benefits (god, how I hate saying that). I am currently paying £75 per month of the bills, which is crippling me, but I won't reduce it, I am looking for a job that fits with childcare, which is proving to be difficult, as most seem to want either early or late shifts or weekends which isn't happening (not through not wanting, but anyone know a nursery that is open on Saturdays??), or qualifications I don't have. I am hoping to sign up for an accountancy course by correspondence in a bid to get something. In the mean time it is just a case of sending out the CV and seeing what else I can do to earn a bit.
The list of debts is:
Council - £11347.28
Council 2 - £723.39
Dad's CC interest free til Sept - £2002.50
ES Water - £186.33
HMRC - £207.30
Admiral - £179.65
CCJ - £272.33
AWSS - £263.76
Contract mobile - £534.07 - SB on 2/8/12
Loan - £7370.49 - SB on 4/4/12
OD1 - £2296.55 - SB on 20/12/12
CC1 - £607 - SB on 12/7/12
CC2 - £3463 - SB on 5/12/12
OD2 - £126 - SB on 13/4/12
Hopefully, using a combination of scratching some off, extreme frugal living and the old faithful ebay, I can start to make some sort of headway in to this lot.
Comments and questions welcome, but not expected, this is mainly for venting my financial woes and frustrations, the emotional ones are reserved for the blog and the Monday morning club, I don't think this place could take the soul-baring rants.

I have done the same with my new diary, I'm not all that good at writing in a humorous or captivating way. It's like you say if you can read it online and track back when you get to end end of the road, you will have something to look back on and remember the mistakes from the past. What does concern me though is how the heck you are going to make in roads in your current position. Is all of this debt unsecured? If so as grand a gesture as t may be to pay it back I fail to see how and of what benefit you will get.TOTAL AT START £13606.90 27/03/2018

To be honest, I have no clue as to how I am going to make inroads, I am trying to stay positive but its not looking good. Guess I am just going to have to take it step at a time and hope that things get better.
The grand gesture was waiting until he left the house, then throwing as much as I could fit in the the car and driving off, leaving a note telling him how to use the washing machine. This is just dealing with the mess. I can and have kicked and screamed that its unfair, I didn't want this/didn't spend the money, but at the end of the day, its my name on the bill, so I have no choice BUT to deal with it. Those debts that are in joint names, I am paying because I have to, whereas he is still trying to avoid, it sucks big time, but I have been told that they don't care who pays as long as it gets paid. They are no longer chasing him because they have found me and have managed to extract payment out of me and it is unfair, and it does suck, but what can I do?Not a newbie, just in need of a new face

Do you get any maintainence from him? I take it you rent a property? If so maybe look in to a debt releif order or something?TOTAL AT START £13606.90 27/03/2018

I get nothing but agro. Renting, yes. Have looked into all possibilities without much luck. The main issue is the council bill. I have got someone looking into helping shift at least a part of it onto him and I am battling with them, but they don't want to budge now that I have started to pay.Not a newbie, just in need of a new face
