tax rebate help

so my boss at work told me to check my tax
and i have been paying too much for the last few years

2009-10
2010 - 2011
and this year

i rang the tax office initially to enquire about this year 2011-2012
they said i was eligible for a refund etc.. not received it yet but work in progress

then i checked my tax years p60 for 2009-2010 & 2010-2011
according to the tax calculator i have over payed each year by £250

so i rang them and they said when i left college and was on JSA for 2months that they didnt get my p45... so they cant do anything about the previous years till it is sorted..

i rang the JSA place and they got rid of the records

what do i do no how can i get money that is owed to me?

thanks in advance

What did you do with the part of the P45 that you are meant to keep for your records?

Perhaps nothing if you can't prove it.

I hope you have also got your tax code sorted out so that you can prevent these overpayments happening in the first place.
