Hi all, a few years ago as a wee sideline i did well picking up cheap items of clothing from charity shops/boot sales and re selling on ebay - i feel ebaying for clothes isnt now as profitable as a lot of folk are cutting back. Recently i have been introduced to my local "facebay" sites on facebook and i have done really well in selling old items that were in my garage, items definately go for a much higher rate than i have ever got at a car boot sale! so this got me thinking, should i have a wee hobby of picking up cheap items and selling on facebook?
definatley think im going to give this a try just wondered if anyone else has noticed the facebay frenzy of shoppers in their area

Hello,
Is there fb sites in all areas of the UK for this? I live in Gloucestershire. If anyone knows of anything like this please can you pm me as I have stuff in my garage/cupboards that we need to sell (decluttering is a big idea for me this year).
Thanks0 -
Just remember there is a difference between selling things you already own or "chattels" and buying to resell and as such you will be liable for tax on those items sold.0

Yes just be careful. Saying that a lot of years ago I used to pick up the odd item from car boots that I knew I could make a profit on and resell on Ebay (not a huge amount, more of a hobby a few odd items). There used to not be a lot of competition in this and I have since this time not got the time on a weekend. If we do have a free weekend we may venture to the car boot for a nosey but not for resale just for ourselves but when you go, all you see is 'Ebay' and the like traders bagging the bargains at a huge rate of knots so there is obviously still a profit in it but there is a lot of competition. Can be annoying as the other month I saw a massive lot of peppa pig figure playsets literally snatched from under me which my daughter would have loved I was willing to pay the £30 that the seller wanted and she was literally battered down to £18 for them. I later thought I would do a search on Ebay as I know I would find them. Low and behold the lot sold for just under £100 on there

Do a search for your area, and join in. There are several for my city, and then there are ones for individiual areas within the city. I think its great that people are doing this, saves a fortune on sellers fees! The opposite of what you know...is also true0
