married - name change is this stopping my applications ??
Hi
I need some help I have great credit however I recently got married and my name has changed so on my credit file
Its shows
Electoral role
Maiden name 2006- October 2011
Married name October 2011 – current register
I have recently applied for a loan and should have no problems getting this i have been turnt down and for a credit card.
On both applications I have applied in my married name and they have not asked if I have been known by a former name. I have pu time at my address to be 6 years however i am wondering as my married name has only been logged since October 2011 - could be a reason why I have been turnt down ?
Also my surname has an apostrophe in and some websites don let me type it so on my credit file I am known as
O’Connor
Oconnor
O Connor
Do you think any of the info above could be stopping my applications.
And if so how can i rectify this ?
Many Thanks

Could be other stuff like current debt, salary, credit history - defaults? Have you checked your file to see that all is OK?
Who are you to judge that you have great credit - certainly not the lenders that have "turnt" you down.
You're not the first to get married and change names you know - the credit check process is designed to take this into account I would have thought.0 -
If your details match up to your old name then they will link to each other fine so the credit search will go through.
You could be turned down because of other reasons0 -
My sister had the same problem when she tried to get a phone wih orange. They intially said no, as using her married name. She didnt exist. It was eventually sorted but took two weeks. Dont think she has applied for credit since.
However its hard to say if thats why you were refused but guess it can happen.0
