Some of them are so bad they have terrible side effects (including suicide) if you don't get put on the correct ones. And, once you're on them, you're on them for good. If you try to come off them the come down is so bad you could end up in a state worse than when you started on them. Some AD's are so bad (and I'm speaking from experience here) that if you come off them abruptly you could end up trying to top yourself. I know we need an MSE meet up, but please don't let it be at a funeral;)
Think carefully mate, ask the doc what they are putting you on and go home and do your research on them, then when you've researched them, research every other name they are known by all over the world and see what people are saying about them.
thank you for your honest post!
I have been researching the drug she's prescribed me.
First a quick question: I can't swallow tablets at all, had problems trying for many years. If I went to a Pharmacy and showed the note for tablets and asked for liquid form would that be possible? same drug just liquid form. Or would that not be allowed? As I'm stressing out now thinking I'll have to go back and get a prescription for liquid form and that I'll then have to have the same doctor etc..
But back to researching I said to her that if I start taking them does that mean I'll be taking them forever. She said No, complete rumour. So I don't know what to think.. The reviews online don't seem too bad. Huge list of side effects. However most drugs have the dangers like that.0 -

I forgot how much I hate the wait (was 20 mins early and 20 mins delay). I've been asked to take therapy next week and anti-depressants for a couple weeks to see how I go.
I had counseling last year, which I didn't like tbh, maybe it was just the counselor I had. He just made me more upset and down with myself. Which I assumed wasn't the idea!
I don't know what to think at the moment tbhI've never taken anti-depressants before and wonder how they will work. (yeah I know they're meant to help) but how will they effect me etc. if that makes any sense.

I know lots of people have given advice, but please listen to the experts and don't be too swayed by anyone else's experiences.
You will find lots of support on here and people mean well when they offer advice but with most conditions there isn't one cure fits all.... and it might mean trying a few things before you find what suits you best.
I don't have first hand experience of depression but my mum has suffered with it on and off for several years and at first tried to deal with it without seeking medical advice despite the family all saying she needed help.
All I can say is that she never looked back after seeing her GP.
No one has to live with depression and no one should be made to feel they "should pull themselves together" It's just an illness like any other.
You are too young to be feeling this way and I really hope you receive the support you deserveMy husband says he will leave me if I don't stop shopping......... God I will miss that man.0 -

Grind em up and snort em, probably make you even happier in a flash.:rotfl::rotfl:
On a serious note, best to mention to the doc that you can't swallow tablets and see what s/he suggests.
Oh, you've already got them. Hmmm, I think you'll need to go back. Have you looked to see if the AD's are available in liquid form?0 -

Where in Hertfordshire are you hun? PM me, I'm in Herts too so may be able to offer some support i.e. someone to listen when you need to just vent etc. I can't and won't give medical advice but I can tell you about my experience and how I felt etc.
On reading feedback about what you have been prescribed, how do you really feel about taking them?
Liquid form may not be an option, it depends on what has been prescribed.
Does it need to be taken with/after food? If so can you squash it into some bread/other food and eat it that way?
You are not alone and I am sure you can get a lot of tips and support on this forum. Hang in there, things will get better and you will find a point where you can enjoy your life.Avatar courtesey of HC :beer:0
