No snow here either - north devon, had a bit of a sad phone call this morning - a lady who i use to care for sadly died yesterday, but the good news - and yes there is good news is she is going to be buried with her husband, on valentines day!! i know this is where she has wanted to be for the past three years, with her beloved husband, so in a way i am so pleased for her as they absolutely adored each other - what i call proper soul mates, so they get to be back together at long last - makes me smile and cry at the same time xxxVery proud to be Strip club member No 430 -
Not if they've got winter tyres on they aren't, Happy. I refer you to this letter published in the Sunday Times motoring section last winter, written by someone *ahem* with experience in this area.
..."My husband, a (foreign) citizen resident in the UK, has for years had to put up with blank looks whenever he has taken his car in to have its winter tyres put on. This winter, as his BMW 7 series has cruised up and down icy hills littered with abandoned vehicles, he has allowed himself the odd moment of quiet satisfaction".
Also of course a lot comes down to experience, and driving, as you say, appropriately - years ago I used to have a 3 series and coped with that on really icy rural roads, but a taxi driver who once brought me home from our local metropolis hadn't a clue once he got out of the city and was all over the road.
When we decided not to go out last night, my husband actually said, it's not our car I'm worried about, it's the idiot coming in the other direction. He must be getting sensible in his old age! :rotfl:
In Iceland the law states you have to fit winter tyres (with metal studs) in them in the winter. I sometimes wonder if we should have the same law here.0 -
Thanks for the link but remind me to wait until DS is out before doing it. :rotfl:
He decided he would read the questions out but his reading skills aren't great, they've got better in the past 3 months but still not the fastest. Got 10/10 though
Either way I'm happy he wants to read them out so gonna look to see if there's a kids one he can try
He hasn't shown much interest in anything in the English subject since he told his teacher aged 6yrs that he didn't need to learn to write because when he was older everyone would be using computers for everything so his handwriting wasn't important  So it has been a fight to get him to write anything since but teachers not helping matters by letting him do homework on the PC and printing it out, have had loads of arguments over this with him.
Kinda defeats the purpose because he just got his results for his AQE (11+) and I think because of his handwriting he got 83 (highest I've heard is 116) which is way below average. He's fantastic at maths but the english score brings his overall score down. Now don't know what's the best school for him so glad we have a meeting with his school to talk things through.SPC #329 £471/£500 banked
