Employer wants to change my job role

My employer wants me to either change my job role or take redundancy however the job itself would not be redundant has they want to get subcontractors to do my job. What are my entilements and what happens if I say no?

There's not a lot of information here, but yes, technically the employer can employ sub-contractors in your place, and that would be a redundancy if your own role no longer existed.

In what way does the employer want to change your job role?

Not as simple as that I'm afraid.

It wouldn't be redundant if they got another employee to do the same job but if they can argue a business case for "outsourcing" it could well be.

Could you not become a sub-contractor, take the redundancy money then tender for the contract? I had several colleagues many years back when this was all the rage who did just that.

TUPE doesn't apply to sub -contractors. They are self employed.

Excellent! Always nice to hear of a happy worker.... but this obviously isn't an option the employer is offering. So could you please answer the questions? How does the employer want to change the role... etc? It will be easier to get an answer for you with more information.

Well my employer has gone back on his word he's says the equipment for me to do the new job is now not available and allowing subcontractors and agency workers to do the job I am being made redundant from. Any advise on my rights now?
