Update from biglad VERY HAPPY and a big thanks

I havent been on here for what seems ages but its all been down to moving house and not having the net sorted, also work not letting me get and relax on the net lol.

I cant help but think back to this time last year, it was the start of all the letters coming in, my draw buldging with unopened letters and me looking out the window everytime the doorbell rang. Then in May my lovely girlfriend moved into my parents house and i realised i needed to do something so i found this site and got in touch with payplan. Ok the phone calls and letters still happened but felt better for sorting out my debts. I was also in a job that i loved doing but was getting bullied at work and the stress was to much so i started a new job working with people with acquired brain injuries. This is the best thing ive ever done and i am loving the job. The money is not great by any means but it enables me to live happy. Im also getting promoted within the next two months so my money will be going up again woohoo :D

We have been in our new house since 1st January and it is pure heaven, its given me the chance to chill on the setee which i havent been able to do for around 14 years due to circustances, and it is helping my mom as my brother comes round here to relax aswell. We have got everything in the house MSE style, decided to scrap the sky and i dont miss it at all, turning off plugs etc etc. Also in december my car got stolen, was only an old run around but reliable, the police then recovered it a month later and charged me £105 to collect it and £50 to scrap it, a complete joke but thats another matter lol. I have started cycling and walking to work on occasions and feel much better for having no car as its just one big expense and we can do without it as i use my moms when i take my brother out

I looked on my justabank account and saw my DFD was september 2015 and i was paying £187 a month based on my old job and thought i want that date down so i rang payplan for a payment review. payplan have also just secured the one account that was charging me interest to stop which is all good news now :D. I still cant get a bank with DD or SO which is annoying but my girlfriend pays all the bills and i just give her my share each month, she is a star with it all and even said i can pay the direct debit to payplan out of her bank.

Now comes the question, i dont want to be totally skint and want around £50 surplus incase any bills are higher etc so have done my SOA based on my basic of £870. I usually do some overtime in the month, does this need to be declared payplan as it is variable each month and some months i wont get anything and its not a lot, around £100.

Rent = 215
Council tax = 32
House insurance = 5.5
Food = 80
Elec & gas = 30
Tv License = 5.5
Mobile = 10
Contacts = 15
Line rental = 5.5
BB and phone calls = 11.5
Hair cut = 8
Water = 10
Clothes = 20
Rabbits = 20
Bike maintenance = 5
Bus fare = 20 (cant cycle or walk everyday due to working long days but not worth getting a bus pass)
Petrol = 20 (for when i take my brother out and i am his second main carer)
I know ive put some things on here that are on the payplan budget guide, i cut my own hair lol

My income after tax = £870
Total expenditure = £513

Total surplus = 357

This is what im looking to pay payplan and will bring my DFD from spetember 2015 to July 2011 which will be amazing, just under 4 years and ill be only 27 at that time.

Im so pleased i am going to be able to get my debts cleared quicker. I dont think there is anywhere i can cut back anymore money, i know the food is a little high but i dont drink, smoke or ever go out, if we do its for a chinese buffet or i cook lol

I also got my tax rebate finally which was a nice £500 which i used to pay off a debt to an irrate friend, get my girlfriend a present for being so understanding and i got my brother something

If you have made it this far in this post then thanks, i know its a waffle but i just wanted to rant lol

On a final note I just want to say a massive THANK YOU to all on this site and Martin for making the site. Without this i can honestly say i might have done something daft cos the stress was unbelievable and all on here along with my beautiful girlfriend have helped me sort things out. Im just so happy cos i want a child but want bring one into the world if i have debts over me, so we can start trying in a few years which will be ideal cos i dont want to be an old dad.

Thanks again

  • Hey Biglad, well done on the progress, excellent news.

    Your SOA looks good to me, I'm not sure how you could shave anymore off. Sorry!!

  • I can't see anything which will lower your expenditure - by the looks of it you've got it to the bare bones as it is! If you are really desperate to pay off your debts sooner, the only thing you can do is increase your income permenantly by a second job or the like.

    Glad things are going so well for you though!
