Part of the Furniture Combo Breaker
That sounds super and very thoughful

The only thing I would think to possibly add may be gripe water and nipple cream - they were the things we had to go out for!

  • You should think carefully about this. My midwife advised me to continue avoiding these for a bit. Her argument that whilst the baby was no longer at risk and even though the risk of contaminated food was low, with a tiny baby, breastfeeding and lack of sleep, the last thing your body needs to cope with is listeria or whatever.

Initially, I was a bit miffed but when I thought about it logically, it made sense.
This was an incredibly silly thing for a midwife to say. Listeria is a bacterium that puts your baby at risk whilst you are pregnant because it is very rare in the fact that it can cross the placenta.

If a woman who has given birth avoids things so as not to risk listeria, should she also avoid chicken and eggs? (salmonella) fruit and veg?(clostridium) milk(compilabactor)??
sorry a bit off topic but midwives tell you not to eat pate and brie because of listeria when the most common source of contracting it is pre packed salads and sandwiches .

How about some really useful post-natal products. as most of them are useless... I wouls suggest the following

    -Kamillosan cream for sore nipples
-Metanium cream, the only nappy rash cream worth having
-Lavender essential oil, 5-10 drops in a warm bath for mum to relax in (and soak her stitches if applicable)
-Aloe Vera homeopathic pillules to reduce swelling
    -Gel packs for sore bosoms.
    -Chocolate
    -Alcohol
    -Caffeine
    -Multivitamins
-Books or magazines that you know she will enjoy during those 3 hour feeds....oh I remember it all too well!

    I've been Money Tipped!
A condom in the congrats card always gets my friends smiling.

Come on...you don't have to think about these things for the trying to concieve and then the 9 months of pregnancy and when the mood does take you after the birth you're far too tired to have thought about these things in advance and you can't use any other contraception until your 8 week check.

Loads of my friends have come and told mehow grateful they were for it...too much information IMO!
