  • have a look at

https://www.5pm.co.uk and search different areas of Glasgow (also different cities throughout the country). I have eaten at a few in the city centre including Di Maggios and theres a lovely Chinese in the Princes Square (not available on 5pm.co.uk) and make sure you tell them you booked through 5pm when you arrive to make sure of the special deals available.

Some lovely places and 5pm seems to hold the best for choice....

  • Hi,

If you are visiting Glasgow and like a curry then Mother India's Cafe on Argyll Street (opposite Kelvingrove Museum & Art Gallery) is an absolute must. It's simply the best curry outside of India. No exceptions.

It's curry tappas style and very reasonably priced. You can get a meal for two plus drinks for just over £20.

I'm aghast at the mention of TGI Fridays, Frankie and Bennies, Brewers Fare, KFC etc. above. Avoid them like the plague unless you want dull uninspired production line food.

Great alternatives are Café Mao, Metropolitan, Rab Ha's, Café Gandolfi in the Merchant City or you could try Stravaigan, The Bothy, Mother India (as above) in the West End.

I'm missing out on a vast number of great restaurants, as already suggested try http://www.5pm.co.uk most of the restaurants listed are excellent and you can get great deals booking through the website.
  • The mention of Brewers Fayre, Frankie & Bennies etc are mentioned cos there is a family involved and usually these places suit families - especially younger children.
If you do not like eating in places like these then fair enough, but plenty of people do. These places are always busy so some people must enjoy them.

I heard Red Onion was terrible, maybe its just a bad rumour. I agree with chivalry21, Mother India is excellent, I was there last week!

I agree, just because you have kids doesn't mean you want to take them to an awful chain restaurant serving crummy food.
