In my long running saga of trying to get a basic bank account ( since november) still no luck. I did smile on line and they turned me down I applied to A&L by post and yesterday got a letter turning me down. I am having to pay£65 to cash my monthly pay check which is not helping my debt! The hours I work make it impossible to get to a bank during their opening hours. Any suggestions who I could try next? I only want a basic account, I am on a DMP and only missed a couple of payments to my creditors before it kicked in PLEASE HELP!

problem is they are shut by the time i get out of work. I live in a small place and altho there are a couple of high st banks they dont open on a saturday (altho Im usually working on a Sat) during the week i work too far away from anywhere to get to a branch. im really worried as i have to go into hospital next monady for a pretty major op on my leg so when i do come up i wont be walking for a while, I need to get an account up and running asap and cant believe i havent managed it. i thought banks had to let you open a basic account no matter what your circumstances??0

HI HHH
I said it about 3 times now but you can phone co-op (08457 212 212) 24 hours a day and ask for a cashminder account, they will sort this out really quickly for you. just one thing are you on the electoral roll? this may be your problem.0 -
