2 satisfied defaults on record... where to get a loan?
Hi,
So I have 2 defaults on the credit record from nearly 6 years ago that has made my credit score very low, around 300 if I remember correctly. I satisfied them both over 2 years ago and one of the defaults is due to leave my record in March and the other in November.
I recently tried getting a loan from my bank, Barclays but have been declined and they told me I should try somewhere else.
Anyone have any advice or suggestions as to where to apply?
Thanks in advance

What else is on your credit file? Do you have any current credit accounts? Are you on the electoral roll? What size loan are you looking for? Over how long?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0

I don't have any other negatives on my record any more, only the 2 satisfied defaults. I have a current account with a debit card but not a credit card, I do have a contract phone though. I am on the electoral roll. I'm looking for a £8,000 loan to pay off over the longest time possible.
Thanks!0 -
£8k over the "longest term possible" sounds a bit worrying.
Throw up all the figures, Salary against ALL debts.
Generally speaking, if your own bank reject you, it is going to be an uphill task.0 -
£8k is quite a big loan, how much do you earn?
So is your phone the only current credit account on your credit file? You have no other credit accounts and no other debt?
Could you wait until after March and until the first default has gone?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -

I am self employed and have a salary of about £18,000. I also have a Littlewoods account which I haven't used in a while but I don't think that counts for much haha.
If I can't find anyone to lend I plan to try again in March.0 -
It might be because your self-employed.
Do you have a set amount of money coming in each month?Or does the amount change?
your bank can obviously see the in goings and outgoings each month, so if the amount differs each month then they may feel its not a steady income.
I'm no expert but this is just a thought.Old Account RecoveredDebt at LMB April 2009= £14,980Debt free Sometime in November 2013£69k left of 90k Mortgage - Overpaying by £270 a monthCurrent Savings = £13000MSE turned my life around years ago0
