Cousin's Wedding - Issues

Yes, my cousin and her fiance attended our wedding.
Thunderbird: The wedding is September this year, our baby is to be born in June. Invites have not gone out yet but everyone's been informed of the date.
Eton Rifle: Not sure where you got that impression from, see post 8.0 -
Personally I would be thinking what an ideal age for the baby to be - small enough to be portable and not on the move yet, old enough for you to know them and to have got over the new-baby niggles, and probably happy enough to be passed around a few adoring aunties for cuddles.
I think if it was my cousin, who I like but don't see often, I would make the effort. But it does seem that you are setting yourself up to not enjoy it. Why would you not?0 -
Because with my first child I had her at the breast almost constantly for 4 months. She liked being comforted there so that's where I put her. I didn't really go anywhere or do anything until she was starting to be weaned. If I have another child like that, then it's impractical to travel about and it'd mean stopping in the car every 2 minutes. I also wouldn't be happy for my 5 year old to stay up too late or fall asleep on the floor/coats, so we'd have to leave early.
Don't get me wrong, I love weddings and parties more than most, but I do feel that this will be too much, too early on.0 -
I don't know why you're asking, you'd obviously made up your mind you weren't going!Accept your past without regret, handle your present with confidence and face your future without fear0

Yes, I know I've made my mind up, but you'll see from post number 8 that I'd revised my original question to "do you think it's unreasonable for someone with a newborn baby to use that as a reason not to attend a wedding?"0

Half hubby's family and friends all have moved up that area! We had about 5 or 6 all individually announce they were heading of up far north within the space of the last couple of years!Little miracle born April 2012, 33 weeks gestation and a little toughie!0 -
From a practical point of view, I always found that small babies sleep for most of a long car journey (so stopping for feeds wasn't too much of an issue). Also, non-crawling babies are usually easy to cope with on a day out than an older baby who is crawling or toddling around (because they'll be happy to sit on a knee or propped up in a chair or be passed around doting relatives all day).
But if you don't fancy it then I don't think you should feel obliged to go.0 -
I've got a solution - if you live in East London and don't mind expressing milk I'd be happy to have your children for the night. (Don't worry, I've been CRB checked).Value-for-money-for-me-puhleeze!

I wouldn't even leave a baby that small with my husband overnight unless I really had to!0

I don't understand the point of Scotland full stop? Inverness is so far north it's scary!! Why not just move to the North Poledizziblonde wrote: »Half hubby's family and friends all have moved up that area!
