App Development Advice Required

Hi guys,
There can be some big money to be made out of app creation and I have an idea for an app that saves people lots of money especially after seeing a post on this forum this morning the app could have saved a poster £100's.
Has anybody any experience in app development or approaching app developers. I am very technically minded and do short contracts for tech companies but I dont have the time or finances to get the software and learn the language for app development, also Im worried if I approach a company they may say no thanks then steal my idea
I would like to see this app be developed so any advice appreciated.
Thanks

Most of the software is free iirc? although i think there may be a $99 license fee in the case of the iPhone? Also be aware that whilst there are some app's that can make an absolute fortune, there are many more that make next to nothing. A lot of it depends on getting promoted by the app store and some of the specialist sites.
As far as getting the app made. if you can't do it yourself maybe look at getting a contractor to do it? or see if any local uni's/colleges have some it students that want to earn some cash? but you will need to get them to sign a non disclosure agreement/contract that stops them from stealing the idea, and that hands you all rights to the app/ software in exchange for their fees?0
