What does you contract say?
At least you are not losing it.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
To my knowledge, you have no statutory rights to be paid during a break (many/most companies don't), so this is almost certainly legal for them to do. The only exception would be if it were considered a breach of your contract of employment - and even in that case they'd simply have to give sufficient notice to change your terms of employment, probably just a few months.
You might want to ask on the Employment board, as this question is really about the legality of changing salary arrangements. I really doubt that the pension option has anything to do with it as such.0 -
Putting the money into the pension will save them employer NI on it, might be why they want to do it. Or it may let them meet some minimum pension requirement that would otherwise require them to pay more into the pension. really need to know why they want to do it if you want to negotiate with them.0
