Having looked for dried onions in shops without success, I wonder if there is a simple yet effective way of drying onions this time of the year without cooking them in the process?

A quick google search suggests all they need is to be left with good air circulation, hung up or in a greenhouse. Must say, I've never had any problem finding them. Where did you look?0

Whitworths make them & usually with the dried pulses in the supermarket.0

Thank you for your prompt replies folk, seems I haven't been looking at the right places doesn't it?
Thanks again for your help.0 -
home bargains or b&m often have them, if you have one local and the time to look.Opinion on everything, knowledge of nothing.0

You need cool and dry to keep them, do you have a shed or outhouse of some form
I couldn't keep them until I put them outside.

I'm sorry Linda properly explain that I wanted to dry the onions as in dessicating them in readiness for immediate cooking, but thank you for troubling to post your reply.0 -
I think I know what you mean Free to tell me I'm stupid if I've got it wrong. You want to de-hydrate onions (?) I think. Simples ! My DH did some earlier this year . We do have a dehydrator which he did lots in but if you haven't you can dry them in the oven No warmer than 50C. We bought some of those sort of wire looking things that are sold (£ shop)for cooking oven chips and worked like a dream but you can put them on ordinary baking trays dont let them go brown. jac0
