help with interest free payment finance problem please !
My wife & i have a interest free finance plan and have just been charged an extra fee of £35 for a missed payment ( they changed the direct debit date ) my question is......
This seems awfully high for just a missed payment, is there a capped rate that they are supposed to charge ?
thanks in advance

Nah, too obvious. Start a poll on here, and let's see what a random selection of strangers think first.0 -

Nice sarky quote no wonder your on here so much with an attitude like that you probably have no friends !
And this isn't a poll i posted brains ( but do feel free to vote on this on your computer if you can ) it was a question
And i did check the paperwork & nothing is mentioned about said subject or in your case POLL.0 -

And you really think this wasn't done before posting the question don`t you ? :think:0 -
What does the agreement say in relation to missed payments or breaking the terms of the account?
Have you tried querying the amount charged? ask them how they come up with that figure?A smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
Why did they change the DD date?
I don't recall anyone changing any of mine over the years0 -

Ther point is, my tetchy little friend, is you're better off asking the lender direct. Policies vary between lenders and you didn't say in your post who it was. Making it very difficult for any of us to guess as to whether it's a valid charge or not.
There's a general agreement that £12 is an acceptable fee on cards, but that doesn't they can't charge something different.
Follow Tixy's advice - ASK them. See if there's anything else in the figure. Such as interest. for breaking the terms.0 -
I would put money on their being something in the contract and paperwork that talks about late or missed payments. It is too much of a moneymaker for the lender to miss something so obvious!Thinking critically since 1996....0

Thanks to all who have posted some helpful things.
I am not tetchy just really makes you laugh when you post for a bit of advise and straight away you get one person who has to post a sarky comment.
They seemed to have taken the payment ( or try and take it a day earlier than normal ) hence the money wasn't in there, i cannot find anything in there paperwork about missed payment fee`s so will do what someone else has said & ring and find out.
I just wondered in there was a cap on the amount company's can charge for this or can they just make up a fee themselves.
anyhoo thanks for the advice.0
