I would say there's never a case of being too smart for an interview ( others may come along and say other wise )
better to be smart then dress down in any interview
But what you describe sounds fine and good luck for tomorrow0 -
Better to be over than under dressed. You can always take the jacket off after a bit anyway, as you will still look smart.
Dont panic, Ive interviewed lots of people and I can tell you I would never turn someone down because they looked a bit over dressed!:)
Try not to be too nervous - when someone is interviewing you they want to find someone good, they are not there to trip you up. When I had to find someone to fill a role, it was great when someone ticked all or most of the boxes, because I just wanted to get someone really good in, and get them onto my team, not spend all of my time doing interviews. I wasnt out to scare or make someone feel nervous, you want to find a good person who will enjoy the role and stick at it and its great when you find them.
So try to calm down! The interviewer is a person too, who will have been interviewed themselves, they know how you feel.0 -
As a recruiter / interviewer I would say you can never be overdressed (ok, maybe back tie is a little OTT, I mean within reason).
You can easily dress to enable easy downdressing, it is always easier to dress down.
But try and resist the temptation, you may feel uncomfortable if others around you have not made the effort - but it is just another thing that shows you want the job.0 -
Thank you all for your response I feel more relaxed

Good luck. If the interview invitation doesn't specify anything about dress (for instance if it included a practical test and you might have to get dirty) then as the others have pointed out there is no such thing as overdressed. What you intend to wear sounds fine to me.0

With Rolls Royce you will want to dress smart. They are a good bunch of people though.0

For a company like RR I doubt the concept of being overdressed has ever occurred to them!
They are a premium brand with an excellent company image and I am sure would want their employees (and prospective employees) to maintain it as such. Your dress suggestion sounds perfectly acceptable.
Good luck and let us know how it went!!Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
I would so rather see a smart well dressed person turning up for an interview than a person turn up in jeans and a jumper.
You want to make an impression as before you open your mouth, they will see you. In that split second, up to half of their decisions may have already been made as to whether they may want you or not.
Hope you have success today.
If not, take what you have learned and use it for the next interview.
..... you do realize we are now dying to know how it went! Please come back and tell us either way xx** Freebies and money saved with the help of you all? - Don't know ....lost count! **** Stay Safe **0 -
