Recommended website hosts for an ecommerce website?

I'm currently with Moonfruit, which is fantastic for building a good looking website quickly and easily....but I've found it's not so great if you want to sell things and create shop pages. You have to create paypal links and buttons for everything, it's too time-consuming and there's no sellers control panel.

Can anyone suggest a website host that has an easy to use website builder and is good for sellers?

I'm with Orchard Hosting and they're excellent. I use my own software for website building and I've written my own php scripts for displaying products on the page. Orchards have lots of free scripts and these include content management systems such as Joomla. I don't know if this is helpful to you.

I'd recommend any hosting that uses cPanel as it gives complete control over everything you need/want to do to your website!!!

I hear nothing but good things about Shopify.
Stay miles away from 1and1 - they've recently started TV ads so I'm sure you'll come across them.

I was going to start an online shop last year and EKM were very helpful and professional, I didn't go ahead for various reasons but if I had done I would certainly have gone with them:)
Thank you for this site Martin

  • I use actinic for an ecommerce site, very good software - they have just started to do an onlie version which features ebay/amazom integration plus a mobile version of the site. Prices depend on quantity of items you are selling.
