Interesting point. But it makes me wonder why Tesco's stock control is on the atrocious side of hopeless.0

My 1st thourght when heard the news is
 What?
What it means is the theiving gits can milk even more profit margin in some stores as there will be no value alternative on shelf so poor person has to like it or lump it!
Not everyone who lives in affluent areas wants premuim ranges there are poor people too.
Just look at waitrose for example set up in more rural communities . my mam has waitrose loves it but apart from waitrose and small tesco nothing else in the town.
Its ok in cities where theres choice.
Tesco already have different price structures depending what type of store it is.
Its normal and fine to respond to customers needs and stoick regionalised lines that sell have no issue with that.
What I take issue is even their value lines are rising so even in tesco in poor area I expect local aldi, farmfoods, lidls even iceland be cheaper.
Idiots spring to mind what they need to do is stop with the pointless gimics and soundbites as so far last 12months we had the
 Double the difference fiasco
 The fake price drop
 decreading quality
 poor service
 agreessive expansion.
Only today neigbour said since big tesco opened nearby town 10shops have shut!
Can they not focus on good value honest deals, cheap staples improving quality and service then they might be onto something but fail to see how this hairbrained idea will benefit the customer as price /value important factor.pad by xmas2010 £14,636.65/£20,000::beer:

But if Tesco "focus on good value honest deals, cheap staples improving quality and service" won't that mean that even more nearby town shops will have to shut? I'd have thought that if you wanted other shops to survive in competition with Tesco, then the more expensive and customer unfriendly they were the better.
 Just a thought.:)0

Mr T tried this near us last year - we all trooped next door to Somerfield! They have coupons and reduced price stuff that the new metro didnt - so
Mr T was ignored after the first week of opening hype! I havent been in there since August last year!0

The sainsburys by us has been doing this for ages, quite honestly it is a horrible store!!! Sainsburys used to be our christmas treat, and now we go to one in the next town over. Not in debt and it WILL remain that way!0

I wonder how they are going to decide whether my local tescos is going to be "posh" or "poor" the actual town is itself is quite a poor area but sits in a rural shire full of (on the surface of it ) affluent villages. the actual town is itself is quite a poor area but sits in a rural shire full of (on the surface of it ) affluent villages.
They will probably decide by what the store sells at the moment.
If value lines sell well they will increase the number of those and if finest sells well increase the number of those. It is already done up to a point but it sounds like the managers will just be given more options on what to stock and what not to.If you find you are drinking too much give this number a call. 0845 769 75550

Nothing new here... For years all of the supermarkets have tailored both what they carry in each store and how it is priced to the local demographic.0

We had a T extra open in a village near us about 2 years ago, a fairly expensive area to live. The village has a good selection of butchers bakers and other shops, the locals just voted with there feet and chose to stay with the local shops, Its now shut and closed down, power of the people me thinks..0
