They don't seem to have box numbers and there isn't a page called tax calculation summary.

Sorry if I'm being completely thick here! Should I just leave it as it is (as per the amount details on my very first post), and will the system then rectify it? I've put in the return that self-employment ended on 31/03/2011.
Hi..I did one of these returns yesterday. The calculation summary will come when you have completed all the required fields. So long as you put something in the required fields to begin with. Then if you want to change something you can go back to them and adjust them before submitting them to the IR. I think that's what I did..

I managed to get to the calculation summary, but can't suss out how to remove the payment on account, as my partner is no longer self-employed. Nightmare!!!

Total tax, Class 4 NIC and Student loan due for 2010-11 £3,889.52
    Plus
First payment on account for 2011-12 £1,944.76
Payment due by 31 January 2012 This amount does not take into account any 2010-11 payments on account you may have already made or tax due for earlier years.
    £5,834.28

Second payment on account for 2011-12 will be due by 31 July 2012 £1,944.76

    What does the POA show?

Tick box 9 then you should be able to amend box 10.

Put your reason in box 16.

I've been all the way through the online self-assessment but there's no box to do with payment on account, unless it's called something different, and the boxes aren't numbered on the online system, so I'm not sure which is box 9!

Haven't seen an online screen for a while, just had a look at HMRC's demo (which appears out of date)....according to this at stage 4 (fill in your return) near the end it asks do you want to reduce the POA's.

This is link to the page I believe Bogof is referring to - the list are all links you can use to change your info ... the poa is near the bottom of the page ...

    Brilliant! Thank you sooooo much!!
Didn't dare to press the next button incase it submitted it, and my partner had to pay just under £6k - don't think he would have thanked me for that!

So I put £0.00 in for 2011-2012 POA and it's now showing as £3889.52.
In Jan 2011, he paid his tax, plus 2 lots of £788.32 (for Jan and July POA's I presume), so will these be deducted from the £3889.52, meaning that he'll be paying £2,312.88?

    Thanks! :)

Correct, in a couple of days you should be able to view his statement on line just to double check.
