Hi all
Hope this is the right forum to ask for help. Having a clear out of my car boot ( which, admittedly, I haven't done for some time!) I have discovered a red waterproof coat sitting at the bottom. It has clearly had some liquid spilt on it and is full of black mould spots. I have washed it - nothing! Soaked it overnight in Vanish and re-washed it - nothing!
Before I throw it away (which I don't really want to do) I'm making a plea for any tips you may be able to offer me. Don't hold out much hope but feel I needed to ask!
Thanks in advance.

Depending on the fabric, could you maybe dye it if you can't get the mould spots off? I haven't come across any way to remove them unfortunately.Father Ted: Now concentrate this time, Dougal. These
(he points to some plastic cows on the table) are very small; those (pointing at some cows out of the window) are far away...:D:D

Spot treat with bleach to kill the mould and see if that will get the black bits off?0

bleach on a red coat?:eek:life is like a loo roll. the nearer the end you get, the faster it goes.0

You could try Dr Beckmann stain devil for tea, red wine and fruit juice. It removes mould.0

I once had mould on a pushchair seat that had been left outside, I just had to persevere with machine washing then spot treating the stain with one of those little stain remover tubes, then scrubbing, then washing again, it took several goes but I managed to get rid of all the mould and the seat looked really clean and bright afterwards. Good luck x0

Im seconding the bleach
as the coat is waterproof the fabric and dye will be coated with a polymer layer
( the waterproofing)
so if its properly waterproof - it should be bleachproof......but the mould wont be
but if its only showerproof it'll be destroyedFight Back - Be Happy0 -
Thank you all for offering advice - I'm going to try them all - nothing ventured nothing gained eh?!!0
