CeX - safe to sell DVDs to online?

Greetings!

I am having a bit of a clear out and have read a few threads on here that talk about the usual suspects who will buy your CDs, DVDs, books etc. I noticed along the way that there is a company called CeX that also buy DVDs, and when I checked a couple of items for their advertised prices, they offered considerably more than MusicMagpie and Zapper.

I have been watching another thread in the mobile phone section of the forum, and feedback there was very poor. I suppose though the it's much harder to be subjective about the quality/condition etc of a DVD compared to a mobile phone, and of course usually a significant difference in value. This is why I am asking you kind people for advice.

I'm looking for the experience of anybody who has specifically sold DVDs to CeX using their website... many thanks in advance :o

Haven't used the website specifically but some friends have and said it was fine. They have a range of shops as well and have sold/exchanged a few things, including dvds, in the one near me - they just seemed to do a quick check I assume for any major scratches etc.

Ok thanks Pod :) I will give them a try, since they're offering 3x more than others.

I decided to take the plunge and sent off a box of DVDs to the offered cash value of £66.30. Most of them were boxsets, offering an average of about £5 each.

I was a bit wary about using their freepost address (although perhaps this was an unwarranted fear), and so sent them via Parcelforce (turned out to be the cheapest option, although still a big pill to swallow). The box was received at CeX on Wed 25th Jan (according to the Parcelforce tracking). On Tue 31st Jan I received an email from CeX stating that my payment had been made, and would appear in my bank account within 3 days. Today, that payment was received in my account safe and sound, to the full amount of the original offer.

My only quibble is that there was no communication between receiving my box, and sending me payment, so it was a slightly nervous time!

But all in all, I think this is an excellent turn around, and I will happily use them again for selling DVDs to :j
  • I know its prob a bit late but I just wanted to share my experiences too:

I have used CeX (Web and store) for many months and never had any issues - As above the prices are much better than Music Magpie and others so would recommend to anyone
    :)
  • I use the CEX store and have never had any issues except from getting all the way there to find out they weren't buying on occasions. You can't phone the store because they don't have a contact number so when they aren't buying it's always ended up being a wasted journey
