Body Shaping Underwear

I have seen a dress I want to buy, tried it on and it looks lovely but I think to make it look even better I could do with some kind of body shaping underwear but have no idea which one to go for.
The dress is v fronted and a kind of pencil style . I am a size 14 top, 16 bottom and carry most of my weight around my tummy this is the area I want to try and minimise.
I have been looking at this one which has quite good reviews http://www.figleaves.com/uk/product.asp?product=Flexees-by-Maidenform-Ultimate-slimmer-bodybriefer&product_id=FM-2656&size=&colour=Black#BVRRWidgetID
Iwas wondering if anyone has tried it or has any recommendations for similar products they've tried?

i recently bought a shaper dress from avon ,its amazing and only cost £15 !! its made out of the same material as shaper underwear but its a little black dress to wear under the dress u want to make look better :j it has little thin straps but doesnt have a bust part in which i think is really important *it goes underneath your bust* i feel the one with a boob part in them just squash my boobs and make them look awful so prefer this one as i can wear my bra with it
i really do recomend this avon miracle worker !! smooths out the lumps and pulls u in a good few inches !!

I have a Manx (spanx for men) t-shirt for wearing under shirts at formal does. Great bit of kit. So it's not just for women. The truth may be out there, but the lies are inside your head. Terry Pratchett

the figleaves one looks good but if u have chunky legs they tend to dig in at least with this dress it has a slimming effect all the way down , its also smaller at the back with slim straps whareas the figleaves one if fuller so u would have to choose your dress carefully as the shapewear may show0

Thats one of my main concerns is that I don't want the shapewear to show at the back although from what I remember when I tried the dress on it is quite high at the back so I may be ok.
The Avon one looks quite good and obviously it's a lot cheaper than the Maidenform one. They do the Maidenform one on the Debenhams website and I do have a voucher for there so that would make it cheaper. I don't mind paying a bit extra if it's something I could use again (and actually works)
The only thing with the Avon one is that it wouldn't be any good for wearing with trousers if I wanted to.
I have read that Primark do a good range of shapewear but we don't have one of those in Milton Keynes :mad:One day Rodney we'll be millionaires£2020 in 2020 - Running Total £170 -
Spanx do some items (in power range mainly) which are made of really strong tight like material, so they streamline you without adding the bulk that you get from most cheaper shapewear which is made of thick fabric. Go for something which has a bit of a leg to it so you don't get a really unnatural VPL where the shapewear ends and arm straps or a strap to attatch to your bra so it doesn't roll down!Living cheap in central London :rotfl:0

I was just going to say that I love my Primark 'big pants' - the type that go up to just under your bust. You can wear them with anything, they only cost a fiver, and lots of people have commented that I've lost weight...such a shame you don't have a store nearby!0

Funny story about "shapewear" for you ladies (and gent).
One day over 3 years ago I was recently single and was getting ready to go out, to look my best and try and impress. I was just wearing jeans, heels and a nice top, but I had a bit of muffin top and wanted my belly to look flat. So I took about 10 minutes to squeeze into these ridiculously small and difficult to get into awful pants that go from knee to under bra that I bought in a 2-pack from Hong Kong over eBay (and for some reason still have the other pair) over my underwear while getting ready. I was waiting for my housemate to get back from work so we could start pre-drinking and was thinking how uncomfortable they were getting. Went to go to the loo before we left and couldn't get them down! I thought this is going to be a complete nightmare when I'm completely s**tfaced if I can't even manage after half a bottle. I tried my hardest to get them off, ended up having to cut them off. Oh god.
I was very pleased that I had done that: that same evening I met a lovely gentleman who, when dancing with me, wanted to lift up my top and lift up his top so our bellies were touching (weird but strangely cute - it was a very packed and very dark dancefloor, nobody would have seen) while we danced. I was so bloody pleased to avoid the embarrassment of having to explain what these stupid shapewear shorts were, and he seemed to love my little pot belly anyway!
Anyway, I have since bought some very nice underwear from the Hourglass range by Charnos (got a groupon voucher), and absolutely love it. It's called a corselette and looks like this and has about 20 bra hooks down the back so you need help getting into it but bf is happy to oblige:
Also today, I picked up a cheap strapless one from Peacocks for about a fiver today (down from about £12); it does the job but the fabric and style of the way it holds you tighter in certain places reminds me of the shorts from 'that night'.:rotfl:0 -
the only thing i find with the big pants is they tend to roll down so u get an unsightly ring around your middle !! thats what i love about the avon one it has straps , u can always fold it up if u want to wear it with trousers , its does tend to ride up anyway so ends up being higher up the leg than in the pic lol i wore mine with a very short santa outfit at christmas and just folded it up so it just covered my bum lol0
