Debt bashing before 2.5 become 3.5

Evening lovely MSE's,

A newbie here but a long time lurker, been inspired by everyones diaries on here & figured it might work for me too.

A little about me, I live with my other half & our crazy boo pooch (the .5 of the title) & am currently 4.5mths pregnant with our first child - eeeeek (in good way!).

The plan is to clear as much as possible debt wise before I go on mat leave in June, by making extra money, ebaying etc. Am lucky that my work give me 6 months full pay then 13 weeks at smp (could also take an additional 13 weeks unpaid but not planning to as can't afford it) but with holidays & accrued bank hols & will be off for 11 mths with pay. We did originally think we had longer before I would be off but had a shock @ our 12 week scan when they said I was 18 weeks  (there was me just thinking I had overindulged @ xmas).

So today I have arranged to sell my wii, my old mobile & a load of dvds to music magpie so made (when it all comes in) £135 to go off the nasty vanquis card. Also cleared my capital 1 acc on full, closed my next acc & requested the £16.92 credit balance back by chq. Not a bad start me thinks.

Will work out all approx bals etc in next few days so can track though here & prob do an soa.

Cheers if you made it through that without nodding off :)

Lola x

P.S. Apologies if I abbreviate a lot (I use it for a lot of work notes & a 9 year habit is hard to break!)

    Thanks jwil.

Am off today as our new bed is being delivered (not strictly debt bashing I know, but we had money for xmas & decided to use it for this rather than it being frittered away via the bank) & it's also my birthday.

Off out for tea tonight with my family, but all budgeted for so no worries on the £ side.

As bed is due between 12 & 6 can't really go anywhere so have turned my attention to debt busting. Have found €30 in the suitcase this am so will be exchanging that this week, I know it's not a huge amount but every little helps & all that. Also need to look for new pet ins quote as reckon can def get that down from the £20.50 I currently pay, even if boo is an older pooch.

Have seen lots of people on here mentioning buying contact lenses online so am going to check if I can save that way too.

Hope everyone is having a good day

    Thank you jwil.

Been a few days since I've updated this, don't think I've achieved anything debt wise yet but haven't made it any worse so not too bad.

Not bad on the money making side of things today, exchanged my €30 & got staff exchange rate as my lovely ex step-daughter works there & sold a random gold pendant I found at the botton the drawer so up £59.

Currently on the phone to my mobile provider to try & reduce my contract, still got 6 mths left & will shop around for a better deal then.
