Average time for new HMRC ID and password

When you get it, I suggest emailing the details to yourself so that you can find them next time you put them in a safe place!
Good idea!
I'll also need to come up with a place to store a hard copy as well as sod's law says I'll end up losing all my emails or changing my email address before next January.
When I get the new id and password, I'll put it somewhere safe and then come back to this thread and post a reminder to myself about where I've put it

I lost mine as well - the first digit of my ID is 4 and it is stored on my computer on the login page - if you can remember the first digit or try 1-9 then thismay bethe case for you also.
I'm not sure I understand how you have stored your number...are you saying that all you need to do on your computer when you are on HMRC's log in page is put in the first number and the computer automatically recognises you've typed a number starting with that before and puts it in?
If so great tip!
Trouble is, I have a different computer to the one I had when I did my return last year so I've never typed it in before on there.

They took no more than 2 or 3 days to arrive, if you send off for a new number today you'll have it this week. I sent off for one a few weeks back and had it 3 days later.0

Well I phoned this morning and spoke to a lovely lady and my userid will go into the post tomorrow. So hopefully it will be here before the end of the week.
And I've just bought a kindle book on improving my memory :rotfl:
So sick of putting things in safe places and never finding them again.
Somewhere in this house there is a whole pile of important 'must not forget' stuff waiting to be found."carpe that diem"0 -
In our house, that includes DH's passport which we had to replace last year because he couldn't find it.Somewhere in this house there is a whole pile of important 'must not forget' stuff waiting to be found.
I have to put things in the same place each time: my passport goes back to the drawer when we're not travelling. Paperwork is trickier. But anything which I can put in email I can find again: gmail is wonderful!!!Signature removed for peace of mind0
