Remortgage

My ex-partner wants me to write a letter to a mortgage advisor stating I have no financial interest in the property we owned. I haven't lived there for two years since the breakdown of our relationship. However I also had no money to put towards the deposit for the house so that came from my ex. We did buy furniture tvs etc together, so do I have to write this letter and if I do does it mean the he does not have to help me furnish a property I buy/rent in the future?

    agreed. But if you didnt contribute to it and have split up then not sure why he would be responsible for you in the future - unless you have children. Tv/furniture - ask him for some of it back.

    I contributed to the repayments before we split. Everything in the house furniture wise we paid for out of our joint bank account we had
  • Did forget to mention that he failed to pay the mortgage for 6months which is partly why I am now completely screwed

    You are under no obligation to sign anything. Your best approach would be to try and write down al of the financial issues to determine what is fair. This would include an estimate of house value when you moved in and then moved out, how much you have put in, in terms of mortgage payments, and an estimate of what you have put in for the furniture etc. It may be that the house may have lost value, but if he has retained your furniture and fittings etc then a payment may be fair, maybe a third of the value of the fixtures?
