Most I ever spent on stamps was for our wedding invites and thank you cards. Consumer Focus are advising people to stockpile stamps now as they are going up in price sharply in April. It's looking likely that second class stamps will go up from 36p to 55p. The increase for first class (currently 46p) hasn't been announced yet.

The increase tots up if you're sending out 100 invites. :)

As has been mentioned on here before - double-check the thickness of your invites before buying stamps. Mine were only A6 in size but I hand-made them and they were thick enough (>5mm) that I had to use 'Large Letter' stamps instead of regular first class. But the price of those will probably get hiked as well.

Just edited to clarify - that's the likely increase. Royal Mail have asked the regulator if they can increase them by that much and the timing hasn't been confirmed for certain yet (see the story I linked to).

However, they certainly won't be going down in price lol so it doesn't hurt to buy them early (so long as you buy the ones that just say "1st" or "2nd" on them, not "46p" and the like).
