Hi,
I'm in the process of closing my business down, and will shortly start working a new company. My company ceased trading last July after loosing a contract and I have been out of work since.
The new company have asked for a P45.
What do I do in my circumstance?
What can I get my accountant to do to assist?
Many thanks for your help.

If you have been claiming JSA then the job centre should give you a P45 when you sign off, otherwise tell them you don't have one and fill out a P46 instead0

If you were an employee of your company then you should have issued yourself a P45 at the time your employment ended. However, it's all moot now anyway as it's a new tax year. Simply complete a P46 when you start work rather than handing over a P45.0

Not been on JSA.
Thanks, I'll stop stressing and get one of those from my new employer.
Much Appreciated.
You can download one from HMRC website

Don't forget to notify both the tax and NI contributions that you've not been working otherwise they'll be expecting some money off you. That's if you haven't done it already

I've paid my NI, just need to arrange with HMRC to pay my tax, in my current situation, its impossible to settle the balance they require.0
