I think your convicitions will be considered spent (see here http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/CrimeJusticeAndTheLaw/Sentencingprisonandprobation/Sentencingandcriminalrecords/DG_199794) so they won't show on a standard CRB check. However, I'm not sure if that will be the case if you apply for a job that requires an Enhanced CRB.0

You can apply for a police records check to see what information they hold in your name.
You can obtain a form from your local police station or download one online. The ACRO SAR1 form is what you need
Only cost £10
the convictions are spent, you may get away with a basic check, but standard and enhanced disclosure, convictions will show. Depends ofcourse if they are still on the national database
That's where the PNC will help you ^_^ 0 -
Mosty depends on te type of jobs your going for most dont want an enhanced CRB check bit taxi/mini cab liceance rquires enhanced teaching jobs anything to eith looking after children.0

It depends on what type of CRB check, an enhanced one could show it all up.
My advice, always be honest, having a criminal record is not an automatic barrier for jobs, even those which require an enhanced check.
I've known of 2 people who didn't declare and as soon as their check came back they were sacked on the spot even though they were good at their jobs, worst thng is it was for minor things that had they have been disclosed it probably wouldn't of stopped them getting the job.0 -
How as an individual could i apply to get a CRB?My Signature is MY OWN!!0

WHat for yourself? I think you have to apply through the police station.slenderkitten wrote: »How as an individual could i apply to get a CRB?
I found this but it says you need to tell them the organisation who has asked for it http://www.direct.gov.uk/en/Employment/Startinganewjob/DG_195811
EDIT: see post #3 on here.0 -
If at all, it'll show up as spent. However, some jobs are such that the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply, although most it does apply to. Basically, spent convictions may well show up on an Enhanced CRB check, although most employers wont hold this against you. For jobs where the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act does not apply, it could be a different story (Police jobs etc).0

As an individual, you can't. You can check your police record - see other posts - but you can't get your own CRB carried out.slenderkitten wrote: »How as an individual could i apply to get a CRB?
Why did you want to?Signature removed for peace of mind0 -
If this is a job which involves higher risk i.e. with vulnerable people or finances/government then an enhanced CRB check would likely be carried out which would show all previous convictions, cautions, warnings etc... as would a standard CRB check. If you have a caution then (if the job is exempt from ROA) you should answer YES to the q- do you have a criminal record. You can request data held by the Police - look on your local police station website (subject data access request) this will cost £10.
NOTE: For the purpose of CRB checks nothing is ever spent it will always show up. Disclosure Scotland is the only check which will not show spent convictions, cautions and warnings. However, this is not a CRB check - all CRB check shows all convictions, cautions and warnings whether spent or not. However, under the old weeding rules some data may have been deleted but that was not certain so best to be honest with employer.0 -
Hi just wanted to make a couple of comment in relation to CRB checks and Fiance, there is no requirement for you to have a CRB for finance jobs unless you are working in an FSA approved function/role within and FSA regulated company and then the requirement is Standard Disclosure.
There are a few exceptions to this rule, for example there a few government based jobs that require it or if you are dealing with the personal finances of a child or vulnerable adults in a care/treatment setting/environment.
I also wanted to note that the CRB form ask for both convictions, cautions, reprimands, warnings and therefore if you have a CRB Disclosure all of these must be disclosed regardless of whether they are classified as spent or unspent.
An employer should not take into consideration this information unless is directly relevant to the job at hand and must carry out a risk assessment to do so.
The £10 check from a police station is referred to as 'Subject Access' and is available from any Public/Government body and is your right under the Data Protection Act to know what information is held about you.
Also on the point of whether convictions will ever be removed from your record then currently they are held for over 100 years, however this is subject to review under the Protection of Freedoms Bill which is due to come into affect from March/April 2012.
The reason an employer could let you go from your job for not declaring a conviction/caution etc would be more of a case of Gross misconduct for not declaring and lying to them.
Hope this helps0
