Was I mis-sold?

Morning all! When We re-mortgaged with Barclays (Woolwich), We quite obviously were also sold a mortgage protection policy, which was with Legal & General. So far so good. We were told that we HAD to go through Barclays to get this policy and were pressured to sign up there and then. I never really thought any thing of it until reading other peoples stories on the hallowed pages of MSE. This is dated back to about 2005. Many thanks in advance.....

Nothing you have said indicates any mis-sale.

Thanks for answering, it's just that I thought we might have been given an option to purchase our cover elsewhere

Not from Barclays. You could have shopped around but the onus was on you to do so.

That would be like going to a Sony shop and asking for a Panasonic TV or to an Apple Store and asking for a Android phone. There is absolutely no requirement for tied agents to tell you that you can purchase your products elsewhere.
