Need some good advice about ID checks while on a DMP

Hi - I don't really know what the right place to post this is but I'm having a wobble and hope someone out there will be able to advise me.
For some reason my company's payroll (after having worked there for 6 years!) have today asked me (and a couple of others) to fill in ID verfication forms. The wording is as follows:
"I authorise XXX to approach a credit reference agency with my details below in order to verify my identity electronically to satisfy the Money Laundering Regulations 2007. I understand that in the event that XXX is unable to verify my identity electronically I may be requested to provide documentary evidence as an alternative."
Am quite happy to fill it in - as have nothing to hide - APART from all my defaults and DMP of course!! I really don't want my company to find out (I hold quite a senior position and deal with company money on a regular basis and don't know what people might think if they found out how rubbish I had been with my own money in the past.
Will this credit reference search lead them to find all of this?
Would be grateful for your thoughts - I'm having a bit of a panic attack about this all now,
Thank you all very much for your thoughts and advice. Have a lovely weekend.

Is there any way you can check out the Money Laundering Regulations 2007 to see what their requirements are? Maybe there is some other way that they can be satisfied without a credit reference check being made?
Sorry I can't think of anything else to suggest.

thank you - I have had a little look online and I'm afraid I got a bit thrown by all the legal terminology! I think I will just have to call the CCCS on Monday and see what they say. I suppose worst case all they will find is that my credit history is messed up - just a bit frustrating as I am only a year away from finishing my DMP and really don't want anything to impact it...such as losing my job (which I'm sure wouldn't happen but don't want to be in the position of having to explain it all to my boss). Hmmm - just when you think things are going well life goes and throws a googlie at you!
Thanks again for your thoughts.

I would say it is a nosey too far. Take note of the option to provide documentary evidence and offer that. Having offered that as an option, personally, I would refuse to go with the credit reference agency check unless they can establish that it is s proper legal or regulatory requirement.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Thank you yes - that's probably the best option - I'll call them on Monday morning and offer to send passport/driving licence/utility bill etc and see what they say. Any ideas of what I can say (that won't alert my boss to my being "obstructive") if they ask why I don't want them to go through a credit ref. check? I suppose I could say that I know that doing too many searches on your credit files can adversely affect it so I'm keen to avoid that if possible?
Thank you again for your help.
