Problem is Sniggings is that Barclays and Co-op are two of my creditors... would this stop me getting a basic account with them?

Barclays still will but the computer may say no at first so if it does you would have to ask them to re-look at your case and then they should be able to open an account for you manually.
  • but bear in mind barclays will refuse online banking & telephone banking till your discharged from bankruptcy (after 12mnths)

never did with me.I had both services from day one, seems they are not meant to when people enquire on this but some accounts have been stopped from using those services and can never seem to get them reinstated again within the 12 months BR,it does seem hit and miss with who this affects.

Well how many payouts from gambling have you had in the last 12 months that are shown on your statements and what is a average amount .

If we know that then we can say , whether you have big concerns or not, there is a difference between playing 2 pound bingo, and getting a return of 2.25 , 80 times a year to receiving high amounts that could have been used for repayments or given you something else.

From what ive read your debt is not gambling based, but you do do have decent wins from gambling - so what has it been spent on, ie you betted 400 pound in 12 months but won 15.000 - see where im coming from. its income.

Your local credit union will be able to give you a banking facility for your bills to be paid - direct debits etc and for money to be received into, ie wages im not sure if its "smile banking" there is a small charge to operate the accounts.

This is good for many people who have been financially excluded.

Well at one point I had £30k in my savings account... I went a bit out of control if I am honest... and it was shifting in and out of the account back and for to the gambling website when I changed my mind over and over again...

I have some of it left in my sisters account as a nestegg for when I am older...
