State pension paid monthly

But a few years back it was a concession (for those, whose claim had begun after April 2010)
Another person of my acquaintance drew state pension in Jan 2010 - it was just a case of requesting weekly pension (no special pleading) - at that time it was weekly in advance. It remains weekly in advance for those who drew their pension before 6 April 2010.

I drew mine in January 2010, requested it weekly into my bank account and received it the week after my birthday.
My husband drew his in January 2014 and was told he had no choice but to have it paid four-weekly.(AKA HRH_MUngo)

I can confirm that my relative became 65 in mid January this year and receives his pension weekly as requested.0

Also, could you please explain why your department does not inform new
claimants of State Pension that they have an option to have payments made weekly in arrears?
DWP seeks to keep its leaflets as short and simple as possible, and we
concentrate on telling people what they need to know at the time they need to know it. Information about the frequency of payments is provided for new claimants with the first two payments made. Those who wish to change the frequency of their payment can do so at that time or at a later date if they elect to do so "0 -
Lol@having to give them a good reason(post 51).As in most other things in life, you tell these people what you want, never complain, never explain.mortgage free 3/10/12:)0

Having just turned 65 my first pension payment will be in the bank this week. As I've been paid in arrears all my working life and always paid into the bank this arrangement has no problems for me.
The bonus is that I can assume one payment a month but in a year I will get 13 - the month that that happens is almost like a like an extra payment and I will be able to do something special with it.Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -

That's how we are looking at it, when my husband gets his pension.
After a lifetime of being paid on the same date in a calendar month, it will be different, but we'll base our budget on the four weekly amount, and treat the thirteenth payment as a bonus.
But I'd much rather there was an option for proper monthly payments, on the same day of each monthEarly retired - 18th December 2014

I have to say I found being paid four weekly a challenge at first and I certainly kept more money in my current account than I had been used to. I still do keep more in but not as much as I did. You never know perhaps at some point we can look forward to them being able to tax the state pension at source and I will no longer have to do self assessment. Not a problem now but I would rather not have to in my eighties!!0

Well it only took you two years to become resentful. Have you been wondering about this all that time?
wrong! I only retired two months ago as I deferred my pension for over two years. So far it has taken them two months to pay me the deferred lump sum even though I replied to their option letter by return of post - still not received it! How long does it take them to click a couple of buttons on their computer to make the payment. In reality no longer than it would to tell the computer to make payments monthly!0 -
Oh dear. I appreciate that you are new here, so I will explain.
You replied to a post that was two years old, that was why I asked - tongue-in-cheek - if you had been wondering about this for two years. It's what we call a joke, not a good one but an attempt at humour.
Welcome to this happy band.0
