IPOD help required please, please.

Hi there, I am going to Buffalo , New York State on Tuesday and want to buy an IPOD from the Apple store, no problem there.
Questions -
Do I need a special power adaptor for it to work in UK ? I want a third generation one so it should come with all accessories.
Will it work with Windows ME, i have read that minimum system requirements are windows 2000 service pack something (whatever that means), is that for the ipod itself or just the software that it runs on, i.e . i tunes, if i had other software would it be ok.
Anyother concerns i should have ?

thank u all for your assistance.

Only prob I can see is that the charger thingy to charge from the mains will have an American plug on it. I went to Maplins and they sorted me out with another lead with an English plug. You can charge it via the firewire connection on the puter anyway if you didn't want to bother.

Hope someone can help with your other queries...I had XP so no probs for me.

  • I can't answer the questions you asked, but I would recommend getting some new headphones if you buy one, because the white ones stand out from a mile, and could get unwanted attention...

A Windows 2000 Service pack, is a free downloadable update from Microsoft for Windows 2000, so if the minimum requirements are Windows 2000 Service Pack *something*, I doubt WinME works with an iPod, but someone here might know otherwise.
  • Thank you both for that, anybody any ideas on my windows ME problem please, sorry to harrass but time is of the essence,
    thanks

  • Spent about 20 mins searching and I found this:

Although it keeps on going about Win 98SE, I believe it will work with ME, because ME was merely an update to Win98SE.

iTunes def wont work with ME - you need XP or win 2k as you pointed out. Also at a glance i think where you have been pointed to allows you to update your iPod software but maybe not manage the music, so you might want to look into that a bit further.

The info on that link is also a bit wrong as the new iPods will work with older USB 1.1 ports so you shouldn't need to buy any firewire ports to start with.
