Compensation

Hi Guys just a quick question, I was made Br last summer and am currently awaiting discharge but I have today been rand by my union regarding an accident I had at work. My works insurere have basicaly offered me £2500 and have said the cheque will be in the post within 8 weeks.

How does this affect my BR? I assume I cannot just cash it and spend it? Being unemployed due to ill health this would be nice but I doubt that is taken into consideration

Many thanks

Joe

Then you need to tell the OR immediately, not when you get the cheque as the right to claim may vest with the OR, (although doesn't affect you right to receive the compensation, just about who should be making the claim)

  • Woooooooooohhhhhhhhhoooooooooooo:j:j:j:j:D:D:D

Just spoken to OR and they have said that it`s mine, just have to forward the breakdown of the offer (they only interested in earnings part which for me was £0)

That was rather unexpected, still glad I rang cos now I can relax knowing that I can spend it without affecting my BR

    Honesty is the best policy

    Cheers
