Applying for a bank account after BC

Just a quick question re-banks
Most of the banks listed as being available to undischarged bankcrupts I have a history of debt with. Nationwide, Barclays, Co-Operative.
Would it be worth applying to any of them, in anyone else's experience have they managed to get an account with a bank named in their bankcruptcy??
Who else on the high street could I approach??? someone mentioned Abbey but looking on the FSA site they don't give accounts to "bad credit" or undischarged bankcrupts!
My only other otion would be the Post Office but that account doesn't accept housing benefit payments, plus of course I wouldn't be able to have any dd's or standing orders, which I'll need for rent and utilities.
Is it worth opening an account before I go to the OR? or should I wait until the day or day after I'm declared??
Any advice would be very appreciated.

I had debts with Barclays which I could not repay, and had opened a basic account with HSBC. After BR Hsbc closed my account, but Barclays offered me a basic account with them, so worth trying.0

I have the problem where all my bank accounts (even the basic ones) are with a bank that I have a credit card with, so they'll probably close them all anyway
And that will leave me stuck for my standing order to pay my rent and direct debits for car insurance etc. Debts Jan 2014 £20,108.34
