A free bag of crisps which isn't free - Tesco on-line

I recently had my shopping delivered by Tesco and there was a rogue bag of Walkers baked crisps in there which turned out to be a free sample. However it wasn't free cos when i checked my bill I have been charged 10p for them.
it's only 10p but I didn't want them and haven't eaten them but how much is Tesco making from giving something away free which they are then charging you for!
has this happened to anyone else?

I got the free crisps too, but I've just checked my bill and definitely wasn't charged for them. I think you need to complain.0

I think i will - I know it's only 10p but I would rather I had it than them!0

my guess would be that one of the pickers accidentally scanned the crisps0

more than likely they have a barcode on with a promotional price associated with it0

I've often ordered something because it states it is a free online offer and then they charge for it. Now I am always ready to check and phone and complain if they charge. Still SHOULDN'T need to do that though! If only I could stop finding good bargains on this site, I would save a fortune! :rotfl:0

I got about 4 packs last time I ordered online and they were free
Didn't help the diet any though. 0 -
Definitely complain, in fact Tesco have an online facility where you can complain about missing / damaged goods in your order, it doesn't really bode well that they have this facility, does it?! I have to use it almost every single order, which is why I now shop with Sainsburys.
I was sick of Tesco messing up my order and being late. Last time they brought me squashed eggs, off salad, and crushed and leaking yoghurts. They also arrived an hour late. They begrudgingly refunded me £3.99 delivery cost and the cost of the items involved, but were very rude about it.
A few months back, Sainsburys brought me leaking mozzarella, it was quite unpleasant, the liquid was everywhere. But I complained, they refunded the mozzarella, the price of everything it had leaked onto, AND gave me a £25 Sainsburys voucher! So much nicer about it as well.0 -
Is it really worth the hassle for 10p? You obviously would eat them as you would be happy to have them free so for all the likely hassle involved, I would let it go. Life is too short. How many grey hairs will you get to gain a 10p refund? Will you have to make a call to Customer Service? That will cost you at least 10p.
Sometimes the "But it's the principle" adage can be taken a little too far...
