Stautory recovery fee's
Hello all, ove the last weekend my partner was involved in a bad car accident. She was not at fault though there were no other vehicles involved. The police had the car removed from the scene and taken to a local recovery agent, this was on sunday 15th jan. Yesterday i phoned the recovery agent about getting the personal property back from the vehicle and inquired about the cost.
The lady on the phone told me it was £250 recovery fee and £18 hpi check, totalling £268, she quite nicely said they would waive the storage fee. We went to recover our property and pay the fee, i asked again how much it was and she again said £268, i paid this on my card and received an invoice.
However, today the recovery agent has sent me a letter demanding £300 for recovering the vehicle and £80 storage which they say they will go to court to recover if we dont pay. Am i right in thinking the matter is settled because we paid the agreed price they asked for or will we have to pay the extra as the fees are "statutory". Thankyou for taking the time to read this.

Do you have comprehensive insurance or are you operating under third party only ?You scullion! You rampallian! You fustilarian! I’ll tickle your catastrophe (Henry IV part 2)0

Third party fire and theft but the excess is £400 so it wouldnt cover the cost anyway.0

sounds like a mix up in the paperwork department, ring & query it.
If they still want the extra money then I'd be questioning why a high volume user like the police is paying more than a one off punter off the street.
Also, what's happening with the wreckage? Pretty much any car is worth £150+ collected as scrap these days0 -
Thanks for the reply. I thought myself it would be a paperwork mixup as we received the letter asking for £380 within 24 hrs of paying the £268 but will check back with them. The car is to be scrapped, there is apparently a £50 fee for this too but they have never mentioned it.0

Tell them you'll arrange the scrapping, as I said above, pretty much any car is worth £150+ collected these days0
